GROVE - About 500 bikers will cruise through Miami next month, to kick off a four-day Grand Lake motorcycle rally.

The “Fallen Heroes Ride,” slated for Sept. 11, is meant to honor fallen firefighters and law enforcement officers. The ride will include representatives from The Blue Knights and The Red Knights. Each are nationwide organizations of motorcycle riders who are law enforcement officers and firefighters, respectively.

The ride will begin in Grove, pass through Miami, Vinita, Pryor, Spavinaw and Disney before concluding in Langley.

The event is part of the 2008 Grand Lake Bike Rally, a tribute to those who lost their lives in the 2001 terroristic attacks on the World Trade Centers and the Pentagon, also honors military members and local civil servants.

The event features live music from Molly Hatchet, a $5,000 poker run, guided rides around Grand Lake, a classic boat, bike and car show, warbird fly-in, beer gardens and more.
