A 26-year-old Miami woman has been charged with allowing her 3-year-old child to be sexually assaulted by her live-in boyfriend.
Rhonda Michelle Wood, also known as Rhonda Michelle Carder, was charged Tuesday with one count of enabling child sexual abuse after witnesses told authorities she knew her toddler was being sexually assaulted by her boyfriend and did nothing to prevent it.
According to court records, the child was interviewed by the child welfare division after a complaint was made by the biological father. The child described explicit details of sexual acts committed upon him by his mother's “friend.”
Neighbors of the couple also told authorities that Wood had confided in them that her boyfriend had sexually abused her child.
The child was removed from the home earlier this month and placed in the custody of a family member.
A warrant was issued for Wood's arrest Tuesday. Judge Bill Culver set bond at $50,000.
Wood was last known to live in the Welch area with her boyfriend, William Southern.
Southern, described as approximately a 32-year-old male, is wanted by authorities for questioning.
