I am running for City Council because I am proud of our community. I want to see Miami thrive and be a city that anyone passing through would like to call home. My goal is to offer a fresh perspective on issues and make recommendations based on common sense. I will not be influenced by pettiness or negativity. My background in management, my ability to work with people, and years of serving the community in different organizations has given me the experience needed to be a Council member. I believe my values, experience, and basic desire to ‘do the right thing’ make me the best candidate for the job. I would be honored to represent the citizens of Ward 4.
I am a lifelong resident of Miami, Oklahoma, and was born and raised in a small home on C St. NE that my youngest son and his wife now own. My father worked in the mines, and my mother was a homemaker. Although my father passed away shortly after I was born, my mother raised my siblings and myself in a Christian home with simple values that I hold dear. I believe in the American Dream, and believe with hard work, discipline and determination it can be achieved. My wife, Lynn, and I married young and have worked hard for our accomplishments. We were fortunate to have wonderful mentors for guidance that influenced us greatly, and were blessed with three sons that we strived to instill these same values. Faith, honesty, integrity, respect for others, and the value of a man's word are very important to me. I am asking for your vote, and assure you that if I am elected; my decisions will be based on what is best for our citizens and our community.
