The Miami Christmas Parade on Rt. 66 has been rescheduled for Saturday, at 4:30 p.m. on downtown Main Street. Parade participants will begin lining up for the parade at 3 p.m.

The parades in Quapaw, Commerce and Welch also were rescheduled to Saturday.

"Some residents and businesses may have been previously notified that the parade would be held at 6 p.m.," said Cindy Morris, Miami Area Chamber of Commerce president. "The parade has been scheduled for 4:30 p.m. to accommodate key community events that are also taking place on Saturday evening."

Morris said the parade will begin at North 5th Avenue and Main and proceed through Downtown Miami to South 2nd Avenue. The intersections of BJ Tunnel and Main through North 5th Avenue and Main will close at 1:30 p.m. to begin staging for the parade. At 3 p.m. the Miami Police Department will close Main Street from North 5th Avenue to South 2nd Avenue. Alternate routes should be taken.

Barricades will be placed by the Miami Police Department at all downtown Main Street intersections. It is against the law to move a barricade or go around a barricade. Please realize that the barricades are put in place for safety and liability reasons, and anyone breaking this law is subject to a ticket.
