Two citations were issued to a 34-year-old Miami man after he told authorities that he was struck by a van while riding a bicycle on D Street NE.

Greg Dale Ratliff said he was riding his bicycle north in the southbound lane when a van with a taxi sign on the roof approached him from the north.

Ratliff said the van got too close to him and, when he stuck his right foot out, the van struck his foot, according to Miami Police Officer David Deann.

Police reports indicate that the driver of the van reportedly turned around to ask if the bicyclist was okay and a verbal confrontation insued.

Ratliff said the van left the scene. Ratliff was issued a citation for traveling in the wrong lane of traffic. According to a Miami City Ordinance, bicyclist must travel in the direction of traffic.
