A local gospel musician who was charged in May with possession of child pornography has been charged with three more counts of the same offense.

Lloyd “Dean” Carder, 53, was arrested Wednesday and taken into custody during a preliminary hearing where he was appearing on charges that he knowingly possessed child pornography.

The charges stemmed from the May incident in which a large amount of child pornography was discovered inside Carder’s home.

According to an arrest warrant dated Aug. 7, Ottawa County Undersheriff Bob Ernst reviewed several compact disks seized from a safe in Carder’s home.

Among the CD’s reviewed since the initial charges, Ernst discovered three CD’s which contained nude and explicit photographs of very young female children.

Carder was released on his own recognizance after being booked into the Ottawa County Jail.

Carder is scheduled to appear before Special Judge Bill Culver at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 15.

Carder, a native of Welch, is involved in the Christian music ministry and has worked at a local clinic as a laboratory technician for more than 20 years.
