Santa Claus will return to Miami and Route 66 in a few weeks to usher in holiday spirit.
Kris Kringle will bring up the rear of the 2008 Christmas parade sponsored by the Miami Area Chamber of Commerce.
The annual event will kick off at 6 p.m. Dec. 6.
“This year's parade theme is Spirit of Christmas,” said Cindy Morris, executive director of the local chamber. “The Christmas Committee decided that the past slogan of “Let Our Spirit Move You' should be a vital part of the parade. The committee believes that the spirit of Miami is what has brought us forward over the past year or two since the flood, two ice storms and the Picher tornado and we want to celebrate that Spirit during Christmas.”
Individuals, organizations, associations, students, church groups and businesses are invited to participate.
“The Christmas Parade on Route 66 is a wonderful event with which to end the year” said Juli Matthews, parade chairwoman. “Participation in the annual Christmas parade is a wonderful way for you to experience the Christmas season, promote your business and spread the joy of the Christmas season to our area residents and children. We hope you will join us in spreading the Spirit of Christmas throughout the Miami area.”
The parade entry fee is $15 for businesses and $10 for non-profit organizations.
Anyone interested in participating in the Christmas Parade on Route 66 should contact the Miami Area Chamber of Commerce at 542-4481 or firstname.lastname@example.org and request an entry form.
The entry form must be returned by Nov. 17.
