Holes were drilled on Monday, January 25 at the site of construction of the future Coleman Theatre ballroom.
The holes were drilled down to bedrock, which was measured at about seventeen and a half feet deep. Water began to seep into the holes soon afterward.
The construction workers were surprised to find that over three feet of mud and silt had seeped and settled into the bottom of the holes overnight. This issue along with the winter weather that has moved into the area on Thursday has put a delay in the construction of the concrete pilings that will support the foundation of the project.
Construction will resume when weather allows.
