QUAPAW - Authorities were called to a Quapaw residence shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday in response to reports that a woman was running from her home “on fire.”
The woman was flown to a Springfield hospital with 18 percent of her body burned, particularly both legs, but officials say her injuries are not life threatening.
Michael Cowden, 39, who lives with the victim, was arrested at the scene for public intoxication and resisting arrest.
The Bureau of Indian Affairs is investigating the incident, but will not say if Cowden played a part in fire.
Cowden has a history of driving under the influence, attempting to elude officers, driving on a suspended license and possession of a controlled drug, all in Wagoner County.
