COMMERCE - Polls open today in a special election to seat a city mayor.

Kenneth Duboise, Jack Julian and Kenneth Leggett are candidates in the race that will close today at 7 p.m.

Leggett, who resides at 130 North Vine St., and Julian, a resident of 124 N. Maple, each have council experience and both have sat as mayor pro-tem.

Duboise, if elected, will be a newcomer to city government.

Leggett lost his incumbent bid for city council two years ago after being defeated by Lena Enochs.

The upcoming special election was called after former mayor John Crawford resigned from office shortly after he ran unopposed.
