AFTON - An Ottawa County man and his wife died Friday in what sheriff officials believe was a murder suicide.
The bodies of William Aldinger, 73, and his wife, Mary, 66, were found in a tack shop on their property just east of Afton on Oklahoma Highway 59, according to law enforcement reports.
Officials believe William Aldinger shot his wife once in the head and then turned the gun on himself.
According to county reports, William Aldinger suffered two gunshot wounds. One to the chest and another to the head.
Ottawa County Sheriff Terry Durborow said a call was dispatched to medical personnel at 6:10 p.m Friday in reference to an “unknown medical problem.”
Durborow said the dispatcher notified the sheriff's office of the call because the caller “seemed very upset”
County detectives and an investigator with the Oklahoma State Medical Examiners Office responded to the scene.
Sheriff officials confirmed that the couple had a history of domestic disputes.
