Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College recently welcomed Robert Walker as the vice president for student affairs.
Walker will oversee food services, discipline, housing, counseling, campus police, student athletics, student job placement, student health, student government, student organizations, student activities and intramurals, student publications and the international student program.
“Mr. Walker's extensive experience in the educational system made him an ideal candidate for this position,” said Amy Ishmael, vice president of enrollment management. “We are pleased and excited to welcome him to the NEO family.”
Jon Lantz previously served as the vice president of student affairs at NEO. Lantz died suddenly on March 3 at the age of 54. He had been with NEO since July of 2001.
Walker comes to NEO having previously served as both superintendent and high school principal for the Picher-Cardin School System. He had been with the school district since 1992, serving as principal for the junior high school from 1992 to 1996.
Walker was the assistant principal at Will Rogers Junior High School from 1988 to 1990 and at Miami High School from 1990 until 1992.
Walker has taught within the Pryor and Vinita public school systems. His career also includes working as a graduate assistant for the University of Alabama football team. He has coached high school football and track and junior high basketball at Miami and Picher.
He lives in Miami with his wife Sally.
