JAY - A Delaware County man has pleaded guilty and received a life sentence without parole possible in the shooting death of his grandfather.
Joshua David White, 35, of Jay entered the plea Wednesday to a first-degree murder charge. A count of shooting with an intent to kill was dropped, records show.
White fatally shot David Floyd Alexander, 82, and wounded his uncle, Lonny Alexander, 62, on Oct. 5.
He had been upset the day of the shooting, and when Lonny Alexander went outside his residence and confronted him, White used a sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun to shoot him in the left arm, according to an arrest affidavit.
White then turned the gun on his grandfather, who had gone outside and was going back into the residence, and shot him in the back, the affidavit alleges. The older man died at his residence.
Lonny Alexander's left arm had to be amputated, the affidavit states.
White's wife, Micah White, 29, is charged with being an accessory to murder. She remains in the Delaware County Jail with bail set at $50,000. She is due back in court in July, records show.
