With the passage of state House Bill 1804, individuals possessing expired driver license or identification cards must see a Department of Public Safety driver license examiner to verify their legal presence in the United States before they can renew their license.

State safety officials are encouraging individuals to regularly check the expiration of their licenses and renew early if possible, according to Captain Chris West of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

If an individual allows their license to expire, they will be required to visit a state driver's license examiner and present one of the following documents to validate legal presence. All documents must be either originals or certified documents.

United States Passport

State Certified Birth Certificate

Citizen Born Abroad Certificate

Certificate of Naturalization

Non US citizens must verify their legal presence each time they renew.
