Authorities in two states are searching for a Joplin, Mo., teen who has been missing from Cherokee County, Kan., since Sunday.

According to Cherokee County Under Sheriff Kent Soucy, five teenage boys jumped off the Boston Mills Bridge together at approximately 6:30 p.m., but one never made it to the bank.

Officials in Kansas and Oklahoma are combing the area south of Crestline, Kan., all the way to Grand Lake searching for the 15-year-old.

The water in the search area is high and moving between 6 and 8 mph, according to Soucy. He said the condition is making the situation dangerous for everyone involved.

The Boston Mills Bridge spans Spring River, a tributary of the Neosho River. Both rivers are currently swollen out of their banks, causing flooding in many areas.

Witnesses say the missing teen got caught in strong current and surfaced once before his friends lost sight of him.
