Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College will host an Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Hunter Education course from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 10 in the NEO Fine Arts auditorium.
Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. The class is free and open to the public. An hour-long lunch break will be allowed from noon to 1 p.m.
The course will address the handling of firearms, safety, game laws, survival, muzzle loading, bow hunting, wildlife management and hunter responsibility.
Anyone born after Jan. 1, 1972, upon reaching 16 years of age, must have a hunter safety certificate to purchase a hunter license or permit. Any person younger than 16 is required to complete a hunter education course before purchasing a deer gun, obtaining a firearms permit or hunting large game, including deer.
Course description and registration forms may be obtained at the Miami Wal-Mart in the sporting goods department, at NEO's continuing education department, on the day of class or by downloading the form from the NEO Continuing Education Web page.
All are welcome to attend, but children 10-years-old and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
