Water rationing is on in the southwest part of Miami until further notice.
Glenda Longan, Miami's Emergency Management director, said a 12-inch water main ruptured.
City officials said the pipe north of the bridge on Highway 125 over the Neosho River and west of the highway is the one that ruptured.
Longan said they need the river to go down before they can fix the leak.
City Public Works Department crews were going door-to-door Friday asking people in the southwest part of the town to not wash any clothes or do anything not absolutely essential until the city crews can get the leak fixed.
