Neece Concrete will begin placing forms Monday in preparation for pouring concrete sidewalks on South Main Street.
Pouring will being on Tuesday, according to the city engineer's office.
Intermittent street closures are anticipated as city crews work ahead of the contractors to remove existing sidewalks and prepare the sub-base.
Miami Mayor Brent Brassfield said Saturday that feedback on Main Street progress has been almost entirely positive as residents and business owners are seeing the project move forward.
“It is a huge moral boost for the community,” Brassfield said. “Once again, downtown is becoming the core of the community.”
Brassfield said he is anxious to see the continued revitalization of downtown.
“I believe that Miami is ahead of the curve on the realization that the downtown area needs to be a vital part of the community,” Brassfield said.
The current project phase remains on track for completion in October.
