A local gospel musician has been federally indicted for possession of child pornography.

Lloyd Dean Carder, 54, of Miami, is accused of having more than 150 images of child pornography in his possession when he was arrested earlier this year.

The images had allegedly been downloaded from the Internet.

Undersheriff Bob Ernst said an investigation by the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force led to a search warrant at Carder’s residence earlier this year.

“During the execution of the search warrant several computers and numerous CDs and DVDs were located and seized,” said Ernst.

Ernst said the investigation was part of a national investigation conducted by the task force.

Carder is a native of Welch, according to a biography published on a self-posted Christian music ministry Web site. He graduated Welch High School in 1972 before attending colleges in Miami, Tahlequah and Missouri. He earned degrees in music and medical technology.

He worked at a local clinic for more 20 years as a laboratory technician. He is also licensed in VCR repair, according to his biography, and worked as photo processing assistant.
