Authorities are investigating two burglaries that happened over the weekend. The victim's in both cases reported several thousand dollars worth of electronics and jewelry missing from their home.
There was no apparent forced entry at either residence.
The first report was made at 6:30 p.m., Friday. The resident at 28 C St. NE, told authorities he left his home at 9:35 a.m. and returned at 6:20 p.m.
“(The resident) said when he returned home he went to his computer and it was gone,” said Officer Troy Fugate. “He then noticed other items missing.”
In addition to the computer, three watches, a gold ring with a ruby stone, a white gold signet ring with REK initials and a class ring from the Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service were also taken.
The second incident occurred in the 100 block of F Street NW sometime between 11:20 p.m., Friday and 1 a.m., Saturday.
“(The resident) stated that when he walked in the house he noticed the items missing,” said Officer John Barbour.
Burglars left the residence with a 32-inch flat screen television, a stereo, several movies and CD's, a wristwatch engraved “My best man, my brother, my friend” on the back as well as miscellaneous jewelry and electronics.
