Miami's Animal Welfare Society will host a garage sale beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday. The sale will be held at the Adoption Center located at 501 East Central Ave.
“All the proceeds will be strictly used for the maintenance of the animals,” said Jean Eslick, president of the society. “Our goal is to make $1,000.”
Adoptions will still be done.
“We hope the weather will be nice enough that all dog adoptions can be done outside,” Eslick said. “If someone is interested in adopting a cat or a kitten they need to let a volunteer know and they will be taken inside the building to visit with them.”
Eslick said she is grateful to the public for donating so many quality items for the sale.
“People try to bring good things for the dogs and cats,” she said.
Items for sale include flamingos - one stuffed to hold pictures and one made of metal to hold a wine bottle; wooden desks; a four-post wooden bed; a baby bassinette; a corner group pine dinette set with a bench, and an electric stove.
“We've got a little bit of everything,” said volunteer Carol Pendergraft.
Volunteers sorting out donations Monday agreed that it felt like Christmas at the center.
