Area flood victims have until Sept. 5 to apply for damage assistance through the U.S. Small Business administration.
“Whether you rent or own your home, own a business or own a small agricultural cooperative located in a declared disaster area, you may be eligible for financial assistance from the SBA,” said SBA spokesperson Roger Busch.
Assistance is available through home disaster loans, business physical disaster loans and economic injury disaster loans - all of which require victims to register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Those interested must also fill out a disaster loan application available at the disaster recovery center in Miami at the former Home Furnishing Gallery store at 1601 N. Main St.
Homeowners may borrow up to $200,000 to repair or replace their primary residence. They can also obtain up to $40,000 to replace personal property.
Businesses may borrow up to $1.5 million for any combination of property damage or economic injury.
Interest rates for borrowers depend on whether the applicant has credit available elsewhere, according to SBA officials.
Anyone with questions may call 1-800-659-2955 for assistance.
