Oklahoma City — State Rep. Rep. Larry Glenn, (D-Miami), has been named as an assistant democratic floor leader for the 52nd Legislature.

“It’s a great honor to be recognized with a position of leadership,” Glenn said.  “In the years that I have represented the 7th District, I have gained tremendous respect for the work of the state legislature and for the leadership in the Democratic Party.

“I look forward to continuing to serve my district, and as an Assistant Floor Leader, to better serving my party and the people of this state.”

Democratic Leader Danny Morgan, (D-Prague), said “In his four years of service, Rep. Glenn has fought for issues of importance to his district – including protecting jobs and public safety.  He has earned the respect of his colleagues for his steadfast service, and I believe he will do an excellent job as an Assistant Floor Leader.”

A graduate of Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, Glenn has previously served as Miami Police and Fire Commissioner, as well as Miami Finance Commissioner.  He is a U.S. Air Force Veteran and served in Southeast Asia.  He was first elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives in 2004.  Glenn and his wife, Janet, have four children.

The state legislature is set to convene today.
