Area residents are invited to attend a workshop for people concerned about the national debt, big government, high taxes and out-of-control spending.
The first meeting of ROAR will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Grove Community Center, 104 W. 3rd St.
ROAR volunteers will provide resources in the form of printed materials, action plans, and phone numbers and addresses of Oklahoma Representatives.
FairTax Oklahoma volunteers will be present to answer questions and address concerns over the Fair Tax, a comprehensive plan to replace income and payroll taxes.
The FairTax allows Americans to keep 100 percent of their paychecks —minus any state tax — and ends corporate taxes and compliance costs hidden in the retail cost of goods and services and fully funds the federal government while fulfilling the promise of Social Security and Medicare.
Attendees will have the opportunity to sign petitions and collect handout instructions on supporting certain House Bills and protesting others.
ROAR supports HR 450 "Enumerated Powers Act", HR 1207 "Audit the Federal Reserve", HR 25/S 296 "The Fair Tax" and "Demand for the Repeal of the 16th Amendment" to "abolish the IRS."
The first 100 attendees will receive a copy of the Constitution of the United States of America provided by U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn, M.D. The meeting is open to the public and everyone is invited to find out how their voice can be heard in Washington.
