OKLAHOMA CITY - Ottawa County has received a $171,000 state grant for community improvements, state Sen. Charles Wyrick announced last week.
The Oklahoma Department of Commerce/ Office of Community Development awarded nearly $171,000 in grant funding to be used toward the purchase of the former IBC Bank building in Miami.
Wyrick confirmed that the building will be used as a county community center and as the county courthouse annex building.
“I'm very pleased that the county received this grant,” Wyrick said. “The center will offer local citizens interaction with the community and great recreational opportunities and give the courthouse some much-needed extra space.”
The grant is part of the Community Development Block Grant/Rural Economic Action Plan program. The funding program is operated in partnership with substate planning districts to make a greater impact on each district by matching CDBG funds and REAP funds, dollar for dollar, according to Wyrick.
The project will benefit over 33,000 Ottawa County citizens.
