One of the two gas stations on the Will Rogers Turnpike in northeastern Oklahoma closed this weekend.
Oklahoma Turnpike Authority spokesman Jack Damrill says fuel provider EZ GO decided not to renew the lease for its Miami service station and closed the location permanently at 5 p.m. Sunday.
The closure makes the Vinita service plaza locatin the only place for westbound motorists to stop for fuel and food between the Missouri state line and Tulsa without leaving the turnpike.
Damrill says the turnpike authority tried to get other fuel providers to service the location but none considered the location a reliable money-maker.
Damrill says there's a fuel station about a half-mile off the turnpike at the Miami exit.
