The sky over Miami will be an explosion of color during the annual 4th of July Extravaganza on Rt. 66.

The annual fireworks show will take place on Sunday, July 4, in Miamiís Riverview Park. The fireworks show will end the evening of activities at approximately 9:20 p.m.

The organized activities for families and friends will kickoff at 5 p.m., including Turtle Races, Hot Dog Eating Contest, High-Fuhlutin Hillbilly Pie Eatiní Contest, Opposing Lines and childrenís activities.

The Stables Casino will be hosting a special promotion with free hot dogs and soft drinks from 5 - 7 p.m. Concessions will be available at the Lionís Club Concession Stand. The 4th of July Extravaganza is hosted by the Miami Area Chamber of Commerce, City of Miami, Osborn Drugs and Cable One.

Free music entertainment will be provided throughout the evening by the Miami Firefighterís Band from 5 -6:15 p.m. The American Legion Post 147 will post the colors at 8 p.m. immediately followed by a performance of the Community Patriotic Choir. Also 100.9 FM KGLC will broadcast throughout the evening and provide a special patriotic music mix hosted by Vance Ford during the fireworks show.

The schedule for the 4th of July Extravaganza activities and entertainment is listed below:

Activities will take place under the tents near the rock pavilion. Registration for the Pizza Hut Turtle Races starts at 5 p.m. Races begin at 5:30 p.m.

Registration for the Sonic Hotdog Eating Contest starts at 5:30 p.m. Competition at 6 p.m. Miami Fire Dept.ís Opposing Lines/Water Activities start at 5 p.m.

The Stables Casino has free hotdogs and soft drinks from 5-7 p.m.

The Miami Area Chamber Kidz Alley, featuring children's activities and bouncy toys, runs from 5 - 9 p.m.

Registration for the High Fah-lutin Hillbilly Pie Eatiní Showdown, hosted by Miami First Assembly of God Church, starts at 6:30 p.m. The showdown is at 7 p.m.


Miami Firefighter Band from 5 - 6:15 p.m.

Posting of Colors: American Legion, Post 147 at 8 p.m.

Patriotic Concert performed by the Community Patriotic Choir 8-8:30 p.m.
