Discussion of a countywide ambulance system will cease among members of an advisory committee tasked with researching the issue.
Members recently voted to dissolve the citizens panel, according to Dist. 1 County Commissioner John Clarke.
Clarke said in Monday's meeting of the Ottawa County Commission that the advisory committee decided that, due to the increased number of ambulances operating in the county and the current state of the economy, there would be “little chance of passing a sales tax increase to fund a countywide service.”
Clarke has long been an advocate of a countywide ambulance service and initiated efforts to bring the advisory together more than a year ago to research options for improved ambulance service.
