Northeast Oklahoma A&M College is planning a week of homecoming activities set to begin Monday.
Festivities will conclude Saturday with the traditional crowning of the 2008 homecoming queen during a half-time ceremony at Robertson Field.
This year's celebratory events includes recognition of the 2008 outstanding alumnus, David Froman, and Award of Merit recipients, Colby and Debbie Allen, Harvey Morrison and Gene Waylan.
They will be honored during an 11 a.m. brunch to be held Saturday at the Student Union Building. homecoming parade grand marshal Bobbie Wood will also be honored. All alumni and friends of the college are invited to attend the free event.
Following the brunch, the homecoming Parade will begin at 1 p.m. downtown Miami. The Golden Norse Football Team will kick-off against Navarro, Texas at 3 p.m.
NEO students have plans to ‘rock the boat' as they celebrate their blue and gold spirit.
Additional homecoming events planned include:
Monday - NEO students will be treated to discount movies between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. at the Miami Ciniplex.
Tuesday - Students will celebrate homecoming at Playland Lanes in Miami, where they will receive a discount price to bowl between 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Wednesday - Students will “dance the night away” at the homecoming dance from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the student union ballroom.
Thursday - NEO women will play a powder puff football game at 7 p.m. at Robertson field.
Friday - Students will wear blue and gold for spirit day. A pep rally will be held at noon outside the student union building where the student body will be introduced to the 26 homecoming queen candidates. The candidates will compete at the Homecoming Queen Pageant at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium.
