Darrell Denny Easter, 70 of Ponca City, Okla. formerly of the Picher-Douthat area passed away Saturday September 29, 2018 at the V.A. Hospital in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Denny was born April 28, 1948 in Douthat, Okla. to Jimmy and Helen Christine (Ellis) Easter, he had lived in Stillwater, Okla. since 1995 until three months ago when he moved to Ponca City.  

He was a member of the V.F.W. post in Miami, Okla. and retired from the United States Army as a Master Sergeant after four combat tours in Vietnam (1967-1972), five tours in the Republic of Korea and two tours in Europe and Southeast Asia during the period of 1975-1995. He was the recipient of over 50 awards to include but not limited too Combat Infantryman Badge, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister Karen Elaine Easter.

Survivors one brother Ronald Easter of Coffeyville, Kan. several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday October 4, 2018 at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami, Okla. with Rev. Howie Moss officiating. Interment will follow in the Glen Abbey Cemetery under the direction of the Paul Thomas funeral home and Cremation Service in Miami, Oklahoma. Mr. Easter will be honored with Military Rites by the Ft. Sill Honors Team of Ft. Sill, Okla. Pallbearers will be active duty soldiers of Ft. Sill, Okla. The family will receive friends and relatives Thursday October 4, 2018 from 1 p.m. till service time at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami, Okla.
