Ronald David Land, 68, of rural Welch, Okla., passed away September 11, 2018. He was born March 28, 1950 in Turlock, Calif. to Cecil H. Land and Bernice (Scritchfield) Land.

He was a high school graduate with some college credits. On June 9, 1973, he married the former Susan Barker in Lake Tahoe, Nev. He worked for International Harvester for over 20 years before retiring. He then began a career in ranching, a job he dearly loved. He and Susan moved to rural Welch 13 years ago from California. He served his country in the United States Air Force. He loved Harley Davidson motorcycles, his corvette, and tending to his shorthorn cows.

He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Dale Peace Post in Vinita, and the Elks Lodge in Miami.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Edwin Land and Buddy Joe Land; two sisters, Sharon Shute and Patsy Sponaugle.

Those surviving and mourning his loss include his wife, Susan, of the home; one daughter, Melissa Rodriguez and husband Jason of Clovis, Calif.; two brothers, Charles Land of Sonora, Calif., and Carroll Ray Land and wife Gayle of Denair, Calif.; three grandchildren, Dylan, Ryan, and Matthew Rodriguez; two sister in laws, Arlene Land-Becker of Minot, S.D., and Agnes Land of Turlock, Calif.; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

There will be a memorial service at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the Thomas Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Welch.  Pastor Lindy Leforce will officiate. 

In keeping with Ronald’s wishes, he was cremated and his cremains will be returned to his home State of California.
