The possible homicide of a 52-year-old man in Peoria is currently under investigation.
PEORIA - Ottawa County Sheriff Jeremy Floyd has issued a press release reporting his office is investigating the possible homicide of a 52-year-old man in Peoria in conjunction with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI).
Floyd states in the release that his office received information from a 911 call at approximately 5 p.m. Friday, April 13 from a woman reporting a man was covered in blood before disconnecting the call.
"Deputies responded to callers location of 43 East 1st in Peoria, Ok. EMS and Peoria Fire staged until law enforcement arrived on scene. Upon arrival, OCSO Deputies found an unresponsive 52-year-old male in the backyard of the residence. The male subject had lost a lot of blood and was determined to be deceased," Floyd states in the release. "Investigators arrived and started processing the scene as a potential homicide. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation was requested to assist the Sheriff’s Office investigate with the case."
According to the release, the deceased male is being sent to the Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office in Tulsa for further investigation and to determine the cause of death.
Floyd said names and additional information were not being released at this time as the incident is still currently under investigation and pending notification of the victim's family.
