Billy Wayne Boyer of Miami, Okla. passed from this life Sunday, March 25, 2018 at his home. He was 83.
Bill was born July 2, 1934 to Clarence and Shirley (Guteridge) Boyer. Bill graduated from Miami High School in 1952 and attended NEO A&M College in Miami, while working in a funeral home. He then served two years in the U.S. Navy; he returned home to marry Joyce (Lennox) Boyer and was blessed with three children.
Bill worked 11 years for Oklahoma Turnpike Authority. The last four years of his employment he attended Missouri Southern State College in Joplin, Mo. In 1970 he attained a teaching certificate, but entered the business sector. He then worked for B.F. Goodrich for 17 years as Security Supervisor and Personnel Assistant, after the plant closed he returned to MSSC as Director of Safety and Security for 14 years and had the honor of providing security for several political and entertainment figures as they visited the college. Bill was a member of First United Methodist Church in Miami and Friends of the Coleman.
He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce in 1993, two sons Troy in 2000 and Tony in 2006 and his daughter Diane in 2003, a sister Betty Boyer VanBeeber and a grandson Terry Boyer.
Survivors include six grandchildren Anthony Boyer of Joplin, Mo., Michael Boyer of Joplin, Mo., Jordan Brashears of Owasso, Okla., Bambi Boyer, Arly Boyer and Hope Boyer, seven great-grandchildren and his friend and companion for 24 years Rose Mary Maloney of Miami, Okla.
Celebration of Life Services will be Friday, March 30, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami, Okla. with Rev. Mark Rickman officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post # 147 Funeral Detail. The family will have a reception and visitation following the services at the Paul Thomas Family Center in Miami, Okla.
