Barbara Lou Phillips of Baton Rouge, La. passed from this life on Friday, February 23, 2018 at Clarity Crossing Hospice in Baton Rouge. She was 86.
Barbara was born August 27, 1931 in Miami, Okla. to Isaac Austin and Lelia Margaret (Hooper) Thomas. She had lived in Baton Rouge for two years, moving from Miami, Okla.
Barbara worked as a secretary for attorney Herschal Beauchamp in Miami for several years. She also worked as a secretary for McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft in Huntington Beach, Calif. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Miami, Okla., served several years as a Volunteer at Integris Miami Hospital and assisted with the D.A.V.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Ted Thomas and one grandchild.
Survivors include her son Alan Phillips and wife Eleanor of Lake Forest, Calif., three daughters, Teresa Combs of Baton Rouge, La., Karen Brown and husband Howard of Anaheim, Calif. and Barbara Stewart and husband Scott of Baton Rouge, La., 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Miami, Okla. with interment following in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami, Okla. Brad Combs, Robert Combs, Andy Combs, Harrison Cossey, Scott Stewart, Mike Thomas and Zack Thomas will serve as pallbearers.
