Lady Norse starting guard spends the afternoon reading to Commerce 2nd-graders.

COMMERCE – Wednesday afternoon, starting guard for the Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College Lady Norse basketball team, Megan Jackson, visited Alexander Elementary School in Commerce to spend time reading to students.

Jackson was a special guest reader in Mrs. Moore’s 2nd-grade class and read two books, “Miss Nelson is Missing” and “The Little Lighthouse Keeper.” She then spent time with the class answering questions and discussing the stories.

“It was a lot of fun. I enjoyed the kids and look forward to going back in the near future," said Jackson. "Hope to take some of my teammates with me next time.”

Jackson, the daughter of Marnie and Garrick Jackson, hails from Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she attended Booker T. Washington High School and received a scholarship from the NEO Women's Basketball team.

She is currently majoring in Biology and after NEO plans to continue her basketball career while obtaining her Bachelor’s degree.
