Jack Charles Thomas, 84, a longtime Miami resident passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2018. Jack was born on May 3, 1933 in Fairland to Louis Stafford and Nancy (Squirrel) Thomas. He graduated from Fairland High School. He then joined the United States Army during the Korean War. He married his love of sixty-five years Joan Jones in May of 1952 at Fairland Christian Church. Mr. Thomas was a tire builder at B.F. Goodrich for thirty-four years. He coached little league right on up to American Legion Ball for a few years. Jack loved sports; he jogged, played golf and was a big OU fan. He was preceded in passing by his parents, Louis Stafford and Nancy Taylor and a brother Bob Thomas.
Surviving family members are his wife Joan Thomas of the home, his son Jack Thomas and his wife Dana of Bernice, daughter Judy Geseman and her husband Deryl of Miami, a sister Carolyn McClellan of Wyandotte along with his grandchildren Casey McCalip of Nederland, Colo. and Sam Thomas of Joplin.
There will be a celebration of life for Jack 2 p.m., on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at New Hope Christian Church in Miami with Pastor Ron Murphy officiating. Services are in the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami.
