Michael Rex Hailey, II, known to those who loved him as Mick, stepped from this life to the next on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 in Miami, Okla. He was 50 years old.
Mick was born to Michael and Linda (Shipman) Hailey on April 16, 1967 in North Kingstown, R.I. He was the grandson of Earl and Marian Shipman and Rex and Kathryn Hailey. He had lived in Miami all his life. He graduated from Miami High School Class of 1985. Michael was an EMT for Mercy Hospital in Vinita, Okla. and worked for Cook’s Processing in Miami. He loved hunting, fishing, coin collecting and cabinet making. He served as a Volunteer Fireman with Wyandotte Fire Deptartment and Wyandotte Fire Deptartment Dive and Rescue Team for several years. He worked for FEMA on Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and the Picher and Joplin tornadoes.
Michael was preceded in death by his father Michael Rex Hailey.
Survivors include his wife Stephanie Hailey of the home, four sons Levi Hailey and wife Megan of Miami, Okla., Luke Hailey of Pittsburg, Kan., Walker Terry of the home, Jake Moore and wife Kelsey of Seneca, Mo., a daughter Lani Homan and husband Doug of Miami, Okla., his mother Linda Hailey Cook and loving step father Melvin of Miami, Okla., two brothers Jeremy Hailey of Commerce, Okla. and Matt Hailey of Miami, Okla., his sister, Sarah Sorrentino of Las Vegas, Nev., his step brother, Preston “Kojak” Cook of Grove, Okla. and his “brother” John Cousatte of Miami, Okla., seven grandchildren , several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, close friends Scott and Amanda Osburn, Becca Rexwinkle, and countless other firefighter, paramedic, and nurses that he considered his family.
Celebration of Life Services will be Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami, Okla. Scott Morton will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday prior to service at the funeral home.
