Douglas Joe Wilson of Miami, Okla. passed from this life Monday, January 22, 2018 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Mo. He was 71.
Douglas was born May 25, 1946 in Joplin, Mo. to Joe and Ruby (Sanders) Wilson. He had lived in Miami most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Vietnam Era. Douglas was a chef at area restaurants including the Thunderbird Restaurant and Midway Restaurant for many years.
Douglas was preceded in death by his wife Wilma Wilson, September 9, 2009, a daughter, Lynda Wilson, November 8, 2013 and his parents.
Survivors include his daughter Julie Starr and husband Justin of Miami, Okla., two sisters Joyce Dalgarn and husband John of Miami, Okla. and Mona Poole of Miami, Okla., three grandchildren, Josiah Starr, Jolie Star and Journey Starr.
Funeral services will be Friday, January 26, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the First Assembly of God Church in Miami, Okla. Rev. Raymond Frizzelle will officiate. Interment will be in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami, Okla. The family will receive friend from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami. Military Rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post #147 Funeral Detail. Services have been placed in the care of the Paul Thomas Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Miami, Okla.
