David Ray Shelton, 76, of Miami passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018 at Integris Miami Hospital. He was born on May 17, 1941 in Miami to Hershel A. and Georgia Pearl (Green) Shelton. He married Shirley Collins on July 22, 1966 in Pine Bluff, Ark. He graduated from Wyandotte High School with the Class of 1959. Mr. Shelton was a local business owner who owned the Miami Fence Company for many years. He was a Veteran of the Army National Guard. David enjoyed golfing, gardening and fishing. He was preceded in passing by his parents Hershel and Georgia, a daughter Elizabeth Ann “Betsy” Shelton and a granddaughter Emily Ann Miller.
Surviving family members are his wife Shirley Shelton of the home, a daughter Stacey Miller and her husband Glen of El Reno, Okla., Peggy Pickens and her husband James of Miami and Cindi Shelton of Miami. His siblings Larry Shelton and his wife Judy of Miami, Ann Foster and her husband Pete of Miami, Allan Shelton of Grove, Phyllis Brumley and her husband Dan, grandchildren James Ray Pickens, Andrew Miller, Erin Miller, Alexandrea Shelton, David A. Shelton, Heath James Shelton, his great grandchildren Kathryn Miller, Gabriel Garcia and Abraham Garcia.
There was a visitation for David from 5 to 7 p.m. at First Christian Church in Miami on Thursday, January 18, 2018. Fort Sill Funeral Honors Team provided military honors. Services are in the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami.
