WELCH – The Fonseca Saddle Shop close to downtown Welch burned to the ground Wednesday sometime late into the night and early morning hours of Thursday.

Located on the corner of Commercial and Curtis Streets the building formerly housed T.H. Rogers Lumber Co.

The building and contents are reported to be a total loss and no injuries were reported.

Several area fire departments responded to assist the Welch Volunteer Fire Department including firefighters from Bluejacket, Miami, Centralia, and Chetopa, and Oswego, Kansas.

The windy weather caused concern during the firefighter's efforts to extinguish the fire and keep the blaze from spreading to other nearby structures.

Firefighters kept the fire under control and limited to the area of the saddle shop.

Oklahoma State Fire Marshal Agent Donny Howard was on the scene Thursday investigating. Howard said at that time the cause of the fire was undetermined and the investigation was ongoing.
