JAY - A Delaware County man accused of fatally striking a man with his vehicle was arrested on a second-degree murder complaint, said Jessica Brown, Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman.
James Warren Winningham, 40, of West Siloam Springs, appeared by closed-circuit camera on Monday, Oct. 23, in Delaware County District Court on a second-degree murder and assault with dangerous weapon complaints.
No charges have been filed as of presstime by officials with the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office. Charges were anticipated in the coming days.
Brown said on Saturday, Oct. 21, a confrontation broke out between patrons of the Red Dirt Bar in Colcord.
During the incident, Winningham struck Bobby Shaffer Jr., 44 and Tristan Kauffeld, 21, with his vehicle, Brown said.
Shaffer died from his injuries and Kauffeld was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, she said.
