Mrs. Nina Lucille Smith, 85, of Miami, Okla., departed this life on Tuesday morning, September 26, 2017, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Mo., after a recent decline in health. 

Nina entered this life on June 13, 1932, in Centralia, Okla., one of eleven children born to the late Jesse and Mary (Bradford) Miller. She was raised in Centralia and was a graduate of Centralia High School. On May 16, 1952, she was united in marriage to Otis James Smith and to this union one son was born. Shortly after their wedding they moved to Miami, Okla., where they remained. She was a hardworking and devoted homemaker, centering her life around her family and grandchildren. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Emmanuel Baptist Church in Miami. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; and nine siblings. 

Nina is survived by her husband of sixty-five years, Otis Smith of the home; a son, Randy Smith and wife, Lynda, of Anderson, Mo.; two grandchildren, Tyler Smith and wife, CeCe, of Bentonville, Ark. and Kelsey Bergen and husband, Bo, of Rogers, Ark.; one great granddaughter, Stella Smith (patiently awaiting the arrival of a second great grandchild, baby girl Bergen); a brother, C.B. Miller of Bartlesville, Okla.; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends. 

Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held graveside on Friday, September 29, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the GAR Cemetery in Miami, Okla., with Pastor Dennis Bergen officiating. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Tyler Smith, Bo Bergen, Tony Miller, Leo Altebaumer, Butch Miller and Allen Schemahorn. Jim Bland will be serving as an honorary pallbearer. In lieu of flowers memorials are being directed to the McDonald County Schools Foundation c/o the funeral home.
