John Raymond Johnson of Bentonville, Ark., formerly of Miami, passed from this life on Friday, September 15, 2017 at Northwest Medical Center of Bentonville in Bentonville, Ark. He was 93.
John was born February 4, 1924 in Miami, Okla. to Robert and Lora Ethyl (Jones) Johnson. He was a lifetime Miami resident before moving to Bentonville three years ago. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He owned and operated Johnson Marine Service in Miami until his retirement in 2004.… John was a member, Trustee and usher at First Assembly of God Church in Miami for many years.
He married Doris Irene Johnson on October 10, 1942. She preceded him in death on December 10, 2004. He was also preceded by his daughter, Johnnie Jean Johnson Dembenski on June 9, 2013, his parents, his brother, Clifford Johnson and his sisters, Lora Tunnell and Evelyn Vaughn.
John is survived by his grandson, Jason Dembenski and his wife Tisha of Bentonville, Ark., his brother, Robert Johnson of Blackwell, Okla. and his sister, Mary Lou Ferry of Albuquerque, N.M.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at First Assembly of God in Miami, Okla. with Rev. Raymond Frizelle officiating. Interment will follow in Buzzard Cemetery in Grove, Okla. with Brian Hodge, David Williams, Quinten Seat, Ronnie Seat, B.J. Surratt and Toby McCullum serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami, Okla. Services have been placed in the care of Paul Thomas Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Miami, Okla.
