MIAMI - J-M Farms hosted its annual Steve Wright Memorial Golf Tournament on Monday, Sept. 11 at the Peoria Ridge Golf Course. For the past five years, J-M Farms has held the tournament in honor of the late Steve Wright who served as a plant manager of the J-M Foods plant from 2000 – 2013.

Wright was diagnosed with cancer in 2012 and lost his battle on May 16, 2013. He was not only a manager at J-M Farms, but also a great friend, associate, and mentor. More importantly, he was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. J-M Farms is proud to continue honoring him by giving back to the Miami community.

The primary recipients of this year’s tournament were the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa County and the Community Crisis Center of Northeast Oklahoma. This year’s tournament raised over $25,000 with each organization receiving $12,500.

The donation to the Boys and Girls Club will help provide scholarships for kids to attend their programs throughout the year and with facility improvements.

The Community Crisis Center plans to use their funds to assist with their annual operating costs. The remaining funds raised from the tournament will be used to partner with Bright Futures of Miami to purchase blankets for local 1st graders.

In total, the J-M Farms charity golf tournament has contributed over $150,000 to multiple local charities over the last half decade and intends to continue doing so for many years to come.

J-M Farms would like to give a special thank you to the many sponsors that make this event possible.
