Police have confirmed the identity of a body found Friday, Sept. 1 in a Miami park as a missing Vinita man.
MIAMI - The unidentified male found dead in a Miami park early Friday morning Sept. 1 at approximately 7:30 a.m. has been identified as Gage Wyatt Miller, 19, of Vinita, according to Miami Police Chief Thomas Anderson.
Anderson said Miller's mother filed a missing person's report this morning and she has now identified the body found Friday as her son.
“The body found in the park has been identified this morning,” Anderson wrote in a press release issued this morning, “A family member made a missing person report and we were able to get positive identification of the individual. The victim was identified as Gage Wyatt Miller, a 19-year-old who had lived in Miami for three weeks, he formerly lived in Vinita, Ok. Cause of death appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.”
Police officials had asked the community to assist in identifying the subject who was found in the Garden Club Park at 200 E Street SW in Miami with no identification or vehicle nearby.
