Gene G. Dodson, 74, of Miami passed away at Freeman Health System on Monday, August, 28, 2017. He was born on October 11, 1942 in Miami to Richard Orville and Virginia Nadine (Wiford) Dodson. He married his wife of fifty-two years at the Fairland First United Methodist Church on November 27, 1965. Gene worked in retail as a manager at different local retail stores; he worked at J.C. Penney, Prices, Big Smith , Brownsbergers and Westco. Gene enjoyed having Chickens, he also enjoyed walking. Genealogy is something Gene was passionate about, along with debating politics. Mr. Dodson was preceded in passing by his parents Richard and Virginia Dodson and a granddaughter Emma Henson.
Survivors include his wife Bonnie Dodson of the home, his children Keena Dixon and her husband Jimmie of Jasper, Arkansas, Regina Laxton and her husband Kenny of Miami, Kalynn Henson and her husband Brian of Miami, Richard Dodson and his wife Brandi of Joplin, his brother Johnny Dodson and his wife Sharon of Broken Arrow, a sister Susan Kay Thulin and her husband Rick of Miami. He is also survived by his grandchildren Keelee Henderson, Mikaela Madison and her husband Chris, Kenna Laxton, Zane Laxton, Kelby Henson, Kaleb Dodson, Jadon Dodson and Alyssa Dodson.
Visitation is 6 until 7 p.m. at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairland on Wednesday, August 30, 2017.
Graveside Services are Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Fairland Cemetery with Pastor Daryl Lee officiating.
Services have been placed in the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Miami.
