You don't have to go far to get the most out of this weekend. Miami will be rocking with fair fun, boxing, and music to keep things fun for everyone. And don't forget to check out our weekend list of live entertainment at area casinos.

1. Boxing comes to downtown Miami with the FOX Sports 1 Premier Champions Boxing Event to be televised by FOX Sports on Friday, August 25. The main event pits Tureano Johnson (20-1) against Sergiy Derevyanchenko (10-0) in an IBF middleweight eliminator. The show will also feature middleweights Immanuwel Aleem (17-0-1) vs. Hugo Centano Jr. (25-1). Two members of Tony Holden’s 4 State Franchise team — Kenzie Morrison and former Olympian Charles Conwell — also will be part of the card. Access to the event space in front of the historic Coleman Theatre opens at 5:30 p.m. and the fight card begins at 6:30 p.m. The FOX Sports broadcast will go live at 8 p.m.

2. Miami native and Country super star Keith Anderson will be in concert at The Showplace at Buffalo Run Casino immediately following the downtown boxing event Friday, Aug. 25. The concert is free to attend and is scheduled to begin at 11 p.m.

3. The 2017 Ottawa County Fair wraps up Saturday, Aug. 26 at the Miami Fairgrounds, 1129 E St. SW, but there is still a lot to see and do during its last couple of days. The Carnival will be open through Saturday from 6-10 p.m. with rides and attractions for the whole family. The Exhibition Building will be open Friday from 4-9 p.m. and Saturday from 1-9 p.m. Check this page for the full listing of Friday and Saturday events.

4. Saturday is National Dog Day, recognizing the number of dogs that need to be rescued each year and appreciating the dogs already in our lives. The local Ketcher/Keheley animal shelter at 725 D Street NE on the Truck Route in Miami is always looking for volunteers and is the perfect place to find a new furry companion to adopt into your family. For more information contact Miami Animal Control at 918-542-6384. You can also find more ways to celebrate at

5. The big movies opening this week are “All Saints” a PG-rated drama based on a true story starring John Corbett as a salesman-turned-pastor of a tiny church he was ordered to shut down, and a group of refugees from Southeast Asia; and “Leap!” an PG animated film about an orphan girl (voiced by Elle Fanning) who dreams of becoming a ballerina and flees her rural Brittany for Paris.
