Linda Sue Hayes, age 66, passed away at 12:06 p.m., Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Mercy Hospital Joplin, Mo. following an illness.
Linda was born February 16, 1951 in Memphis, Tenn. Her parents were Raymond Dewey and Georgia Sue (Layton) Massengale. She had lived half her life in Baxter Springs, spending the rest of her time in Harrison, Ark.
She was a seamstress, working at King Louie, Baxter Springs, for 10 years. She then became a truck driver, traveling across the US for 19 years before her retirement in 2012. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, Baxter Springs, Kan. She enjoyed flower gardening, working puzzles. She loved her kids and grandkids.
Surviving is one son, Toni Hayes, Baxter Springs; one daughter, Jackie Sue Watts, Harrison, Ark.; one brother, Rick Massengal (wife, Debbie), Baxter Springs,; one sister, Janie Nowlin (husband, Billy) Baxter Springs; seven grandchildren, Dakota Boone Wittenmyer, Cheyanna Belle Smith, Cyrus Spears, Damon Hayes, Sawyer Spears, Kaleb Hayes and Acelynn Hayes; and three great-grandchildren.
She was entrusted to Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel, Baxter Springs, for cremation. The family plan to have a memorial at a later date.
