REC is offering traveling safety presentations to local youth organizations upon request.

NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA – Area kids can receive an introduction to electrical safety this summer, thanks to a program available from a local utility company.

Northeast Oklahoma Electric Cooperative (REC) is offering traveling safety presentations to local youth organizations upon request. Presentations utilize visual aids and are geared toward a younger audience.

“Children are naturally curious, of course, and there are many hazards that can be encountered during their exploration,” remarked cooperative Youth Programs Coordinator Clint Branham. “The purpose of this safety program is to create an awareness of certain, basic electrical dangers that children can avoid before a mistake is made that cannot be undone.”

“We also want to emphasize with this program that learning about electrical safety doesn’t have to be a boring experience," added Branham. "It is our hope that conveying safety information in a fun environment will help children retain it for a lifetime.”
