A single vehicle rollover just outside of Wyandotte claimed the life of a 20-year-old Miami man over the weekend.

OTTAWA COUNTY – A single vehicle accident Friday evening has claimed the life of Miami man and injured a teenage passenger.

According to an OHP report, on July 28 at approximately 7:14 p.m. Tanner Williams, 20, of Miami was traveling northbound on Cayuga Road just west of Wyandotte when the Nissan he was driving departed the road, and an overcorrection caused the vehicle to roll and land on its top.

Williams was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene from massive injuries, according to the report from the investigating officer Trooper Preston Konemann #762, of the Ottawa County detachment of Troop L.

Allen Garoutte is listed as the Medical Examiner in the incident.

A 17-year-old passenger from Wyandotte, whose name has been withheld, is said to have sustained head, arm, and leg injuries. The teenager was transported by Quapaw Tribe EMS to Freeman Hospital in Joplin and later released in good condition.

The report lists the condition of the driver and the cause of the collision as under investigation.

Seatbelts were not in use by either Williams or the passenger.
